Metrobank Fraud: How to Report It and Stop the Money

If money left your Metrobank account without your permission, or you paid a scammer, contact Metrobank straight away and ask it to block the payment and your card. The first minutes matter most.

Do this first

  1. Call Metrobank’s official line below, or use help inside the official Metrobank app. Never use a number from a text, a caller or a search result.
  2. Give them the transaction details (amount, time, and the account or number you paid) and ask them to block your card and stop or recall the payment.
  3. Change your online banking password and PIN if anyone may know them. Metrobank will never ask for your PIN, password or a one-time code.
  4. Report it to the police too: see who handles cybercrime in Philippines, and keep screenshots of every message and payment.

Your rights as a Metrobank customer in Philippines

  • Republic Act No. 12010, Anti-Financial Account Scamming Act (AFASA). Banks and e-wallets must protect accounts with adequate security controls. One that fails to do so, or fails to use the highest degree of diligence, must return the lost funds, and no criminal conviction is needed first. Institutions may temporarily hold funds in a disputed transaction, including social-engineering scams, for up to 30 days unless a court extends it. Source
