Vietnam: The Official e-Visa Website and How to Spot Fake Sites

Many websites copy government visa and travel-authorisation sites and charge extra. Here is the official address for Vietnam (Vietnam National Electronic Visa (e-Visa), Immigration Department, Ministry of Public Security), what the government says about copycat sites, and where to report visa fraud, all read on its own pages.

Do this first

  1. Type the official address yourself or follow it from the government or embassy site. Do not use the first search result or an ad.
  2. Compare the web address letter by letter with the official domains below. A site that is not on them is not the government.
  3. Be wary of any site that adds a “service” or “processing” fee, or promises faster approval for extra money.
  4. If you already paid or entered passport and card details, call your bank’s fraud line now.

Official website

Who needs it: Foreigners outside Viet Nam holding a valid passport who are not barred under Article 21 of the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit and Residence of Foreigners; e-visa valid up to 90 days, single or multiple entry, and must be at least 30 days shorter than passport validity (evisa.gov.vn FAQ).

What the government says about fake sites

evisa.gov.vn FAQ: apply only at evisa.gov.vn or thithucdientu.gov.vn; 'Make sure to visit the correct website to avoid accessing unofficial electronic information pages, which may result in unauthorized fees according to Viet Nam's regulations.' Source: evisa.gov.vn/faq. The Immigration Department notice (11 Nov 2024) says the portal moved to the two domains thithucdientu.gov.vn and evisa.gov.vn: evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn/trang-chu-ttdt
