Kenya: The Official eTA Website and How to Spot Fake Sites

Many websites copy government visa and travel-authorisation sites and charge extra. Here is the official address for Kenya (Kenya Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA)), what the government says about copycat sites, and where to report visa fraud, all read on its own pages.

Do this first

  1. Type the official address yourself or follow it from the government or embassy site. Do not use the first search result or an ad.
  2. Compare the web address letter by letter with the official domains below. A site that is not on them is not the government.
  3. Be wary of any site that adds a “service” or “processing” fee, or promises faster approval for extra money.
  4. If you already paid or entered passport and card details, call your bank’s fraud line now.

Official website

Who needs it: Foreign visitors (an eTA is required per traveller including groups) before travelling to Kenya; exemptions listed on etakenya.go.ke/general-information for East African Community citizens and certain other nationalities.

Processing time, as published: 'Applications are generally processed within three (3) business days/72 hours but may take longer'; expedited option processed immediately. General information page recommends applying at least 2 weeks before travel.

What the government says about fake sites

etakenya.go.ke FAQ: 'eTA applications must be completed only through this official website or the Kenya Travel Authorisation official mobile application and must be done for each individual who intends to travel to Kenya.' No explicit copycat-site paragraph found. Source: etakenya.go.ke/faqs

Report visa fraud

No fraud-report route published. Support email [email protected] (named on the FAQ for denied applications).
