European Union: The Official ETIAS Website and How to Spot Fake Sites
Many websites copy government visa and travel-authorisation sites and charge extra. Here is the official address for European Union (European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS)), what the government says about copycat sites, and where to report visa fraud, all read on its own pages.
Do this first
- Type the official address yourself or follow it from the government or embassy site. Do not use the first search result or an ad.
- Compare the web address letter by letter with the official domains below. A site that is not on them is not the government.
- Be wary of any site that adds a “service” or “processing” fee, or promises faster approval for extra money.
- If you already paid or entered passport and card details, call your bank’s fraud line now.
Official website
- Official page: travel-europe.europa.eu/etias_en
- Official domains: travel-europe.europa.eu, europa.eu
Who needs it: Citizens of visa-exempt countries who will visit the European countries requiring ETIAS for short stays (up to 90 days in any 180); not yet in force so no one can or needs to apply today.
Processing time, as published: Once live: most applicants get a decision within minutes; at the latest within 96 hours; if more information is needed an extra 10 days to supply it, and in some cases up to 30 days overall (ETIAS FAQ).
What the government says about fake sites
ETIAS FAQ: 'This is the only official website of the European Union that allows you to submit applications for ETIAS travel authorisations directly... Any other website that provides intermediary services will collect your data and use the official ETIAS website to file the application on your behalf. These websites may also require you to pay additional fees.' Because ETIAS is not open, any site currently offering to issue or 'register' an ETIAS is not accepting real applications.
Checked on the government’s own pages on 30 October 2026. Fees are not listed because they change; read the current fee on the official site. If something has moved, tell us.
