Lufthansa: Official Contacts and How to Report a Scam
Fake airline support numbers on search ads and social media take real money. Here is what Lufthansa officially publishes: contact numbers, the domains it uses, its own scam warnings, refund rules and the regulator to complain to.
Do this first
- Do not call a number from a search ad, social post or message. Use the numbers below or the help section of the official Lufthansa app or website.
- No airline needs you to pay with gift cards, move money to a "safe" account or install remote-access software. If someone asks, hang up.
- If you paid by card or bank transfer, call your bank's fraud line now.
- Keep your booking reference and any messages, then report using the routes below.
Lufthansa in United States
lufthansa.com/us- Customer Relations USA (comments, complaints, DBC vouchers):+1 (516) 738-4422
Official domains Lufthansa lists: lufthansa.com. A link or email address on any other domain is not from Lufthansa.
Report a scam or fraud: Lufthansa USA page says: if you suspect fraudulent activity on a Lufthansa transaction, report the charges directly to your card issuer using the number on the back of your card.
US DOT refund rules (flights to/from/within the US): Refund entitlement for airline-cancelled or significantly changed flights to, from or within the US. (source)
If Lufthansa won’t help:
US Department of Transportation, Office of Aviation Consumer Protection: For flights to/from the US file with Lufthansa first, then with DOT.
