DHL: Official Contacts and How to Report a Scam

Got a message or call about a DHL parcel, a redelivery fee or a customs charge? Here is what DHL officially publishes for 3 markets: its real contact numbers, the domains it uses, what it says it will never do, and where to report a scam.

Do this first

  1. Do not click the link or call the number in the message. Open the official DHL website or app yourself and enter the tracking number there.
  2. Check the sender against the official domains and phone numbers below. Anything else is not from DHL.
  3. If you already paid or typed in card details, call your bank's fraud line now.
  4. Report the message using the routes below, then tell the regulator if DHL won't help.

DHL (worldwide)

dhl.com

Official domains DHL lists: dhl.com, del.dhl.com, express.dhl.com, dpdhl.com, group.dhl.com, dhl-news.com, dhl.de, dhl.fr, dhl.ae. A link or email address on any other domain is not from DHL.

What DHL says about scams: DHL says official email comes from @dhl.com and subdomains, @dpdhl.com, @dhl-news.com or an @dhl country domain, never from @gmail, @yahoo or other free email services, and links only to its own sites. Scam SMS often use shortened links (e.g. bit.ly), show a generic sender such as 'Delivery' instead of a number, or come from a number with an unexpected country prefix (example given: +235). The only payments DHL requests by email or SMS are customs duties and taxes, with an OTP sent to the consignee's registered contact before payment.

Report a scam or fraud: Email: drag and drop the suspicious email into a new message to [email protected] as an attachment (full mail headers are needed; a plain forward drops them). On mobile, forward it and, if possible, resend from a desktop as an attachment; also report as spam in your mail app. SMS: send a screenshot of the text to [email protected] and include the sender's phone number. Fake social accounts or WhatsApp/Telegram contacts: send the account/post URL or phone number to [email protected] and report it to the platform.

Forward scam messages to: [email protected]

  • DHL says the only payments it asks for by email or SMS are customs duties and taxes, with an OTP check; anything else (a 'redelivery' or 'storage' fee, a card form on an unknown site) is outside what DHL states.
  • DHL notes that spoofed emails can use real DHL domains in the sender field, so check content, links and attachments as well as the sender.
  • DHL says accounts offering 'free Visa', 'free flights' or investment doubling, or moving chat to WhatsApp/Telegram, are fake.

DHL in United States

dhl.com/us-en

Official domains DHL lists: dhl.com, dpdhl.com, dhl-news.com. A link or email address on any other domain is not from DHL.

What DHL says about scams: Same content as the global page, plus a US local alert on bogus recruitment ads (DHL does not charge applicants for background checks such as TSA, and does not ask for SSNs). Report emails, SMS screenshots and fake accounts to [email protected].

Report a scam or fraud: Email as attachment (full headers) or forward from mobile; SMS as screenshot including the sender number. Hacked DHL account: change the password; if locked out, report through customer support dhl.com/us-en/home/customer-service.html

Forward scam messages to: [email protected]

  • A DHL job offer that asks you to pay money, for background checks or admin costs, is fraudulent according to DHL's US fraud page.

DHL in Germany

dhl.com/de-de

Official domains DHL lists: dhl.com, dpdhl.com, dhl.de, deutschepost.de, dhl-news.com. A link or email address on any other domain is not from DHL.

What DHL says about scams: German version of the global fraud page (report to [email protected]). The DHL Paket site adds that DHL never asks for personal data or demands payment by SMS (it says this applies because of current fraud attempts). The Paket security page also shows example fake SMS (foreign number, fake tracking number, link not on DHL/Deutsche Post sites) and covers fake shipping labels.

Report a scam or fraud: Suspicious email: forward as attachment to [email protected], then delete it (Deutsche Post page). Suspicious SMS: screenshot including the sender's number to [email protected]. Do not click links; enter the tracking number manually on dhl.de (parcels) or deutschepost.de (letters).

Forward scam messages to: [email protected]

  • DHL Paket states it never asks for personal data or payment by SMS.
  • DHL Paket says fake SMS typically come from a foreign number, contain a fake tracking number and link to a site that is not DHL or Deutsche Post.
  • DHL Group says genuine parcel announcement emails come from [email protected] and all links lead to DHL's own pages.

If DHL won’t help:

Bundesnetzagentur, Mängelmelder Post (postal regulator): The Bundesnetzagentur says it does not examine individual cases; for loss/damage disputes it points to the Schlichtungsstelle Post.

Checked on DHL’s own pages on 30 October 2026. Support routes change, so if something has moved, use the help section in the official app or website and tell us. See every company in Travel and Delivery Scam Help, and report the crime to the police via the cyber agencies directory.
