Delta Air Lines: Official Contacts and How to Report a Scam
Fake airline support numbers on search ads and social media take real money. Here is what Delta Air Lines officially publishes: contact numbers, the domains it uses, its own scam warnings, refund rules and the regulator to complain to.
Do this first
- Do not call a number from a search ad, social post or message. Use the numbers below or the help section of the official Delta Air Lines app or website.
- No airline needs you to pay with gift cards, move money to a "safe" account or install remote-access software. If someone asks, hang up.
- If you paid by card or bank transfer, call your bank's fraud line now.
- Keep your booking reference and any messages, then report using the routes below.

What Delta Air Lines says about scams: Delta says it will never ask for your password in an email, over the phone or on social media, and will never ask you to pay with alternative payment such as Visa/Amex gift cards or Google Play cards. It lists phishing, smishing (text/social messages), fake invoices/receipts, postcards, gift card promos and 'free flights for following/liking' offers as not originating from Delta, and warns that third-party sites claiming to represent Delta put your data at risk. It says the only way to be sure is to use delta.com or call 1-800-221-1212.
Report a scam or fraud: if you notice unusual account activity, change your password and message Delta or call 800-221-1212; if you believe you are a victim of fraud with a financial loss, contact your local law enforcement agency.
Delta cancellation and refund options: Classic and Basic fares are non-refundable and are cancelled for an eCredit minus fees; Extra and refundable tickets can be cancelled for a full refund. If your flight is cancelled or significantly delayed/changed (3+ hours domestic, 6+ hours international) and Delta cannot rebook you and you take no action within 24 hours, Delta says it will automatically refund you to the original payment method; a refund request form is at delta.com/refund-form. US DOT refund rules: Refund entitlement for airline-cancelled or significantly changed flights; 24-hour cancellation for tickets bought 7+ days ahead. (source)
