Cathay Pacific: Official Contacts and How to Report a Scam

Fake airline support numbers on search ads and social media take real money. Here is what Cathay Pacific officially publishes: contact numbers, the domains it uses, its own scam warnings, refund rules and the regulator to complain to.

Do this first

  1. Do not call a number from a search ad, social post or message. Use the numbers below or the help section of the official Cathay Pacific app or website.
  2. No airline needs you to pay with gift cards, move money to a "safe" account or install remote-access software. If someone asks, hang up.
  3. If you paid by card or bank transfer, call your bank's fraud line now.
  4. Keep your booking reference and any messages, then report using the routes below.

Official domains Cathay Pacific lists: cathaypacific.com. A link or email address on any other domain is not from Cathay Pacific.

What Cathay Pacific says about scams: Cathay's 'Securing your every journey together' page covers preventing identity fraud, purchase scams and phishing; advises booking only via the Cathay website/app, setting up a Passkey and two-factor authentication, and reporting suspected fraud to [email protected]. A companion page (Protect your account) says Cathay will never ask for banking or card details or passwords over email, messages or calls and never to reveal membership login details or OTP.

Report a scam or fraud: Forward suspicious emails with complete headers to [email protected] (monitored; may only get an auto-acknowledgement). If you divulged card details, contact your card company immediately, then change your Cathay password and enable Passkey/2FA.

Change, cancel or refund your flight: Bookings made directly with Cathay can be cancelled/refunded via Manage Booking; tickets bought via a travel agent must be refunded through the agent. Unused tickets are refundable within 2 years of issue (taxes refundable on unused/partly used tickets); fees depend on fare type. Page states redemption ticket cancel fee of USD120 or 17,000 Asia Miles. (source)
