Canada Post: Official Contacts and How to Report a Scam

Got a message or call about a Canada Post parcel, a redelivery fee or a customs charge? Here is what Canada Post officially publishes: its real contact numbers, the domains it uses, what it says it will never do, and where to report a scam.

Do this first

  1. Do not click the link or call the number in the message. Open the official Canada Post website or app yourself and enter the tracking number there.
  2. Check the sender against the official domains and phone numbers below. Anything else is not from Canada Post.
  3. If you already paid or typed in card details, call your bank's fraud line now.
  4. Report the message using the routes below, then tell the regulator if Canada Post won't help.

Canada Post in Canada

canadapost-postescanada.ca

Official domains Canada Post lists: canadapost-postescanada.ca, notifications.canadapost-postescanada.ca, communications.canadapost-postescanada.ca, canadapost.ca. A link or email address on any other domain is not from Canada Post.

What Canada Post says about scams: Canada Post leaves a delivery notice card at your door or mailbox when it attempts delivery and does not contact you by email unless you asked. It will never email you for credit card or banking details, passwords or account information, or payment to release or track a delivery, and will never text you for card/banking info, account logins or payments for deliveries or tracking. Tracking on the Canada Post website is the safest way to see whether duty or taxes are due.

Report a scam or fraud: Canada Post says you do NOT need to report suspicious emails or texts to it; delete them and do not reply (not even 'STOP'). Forward spam texts to 7726 (SPAM); your phone provider may then block the number. If you believe you are a victim of fraud, contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre: antifraudcentre-centreantifraude.ca/report-signalez-eng.htm or 1-888-495-8501.

Claims overview (lost, late or damaged items): Canada Post invites senders and recipients to tell it if a package has not been delivered as expected, arrived late or was damaged; claim paths for 'package hasn't arrived', 'delivered late' and 'damaged' are linked from the support page. (source)

  • Canada Post says a text saying a delivery is on hold due to unpaid shipping fees, with a link to pay, is NOT from Canada Post.
  • Legitimate links point to canadapost-postescanada.ca; Canada Post gives 'parcel-delivery-canadapost.ca' as an example of a fake address.
  • Genuine Canada Post tracking texts come only from 272727 or 55555 (and only if you signed up), plus support texts from 613-734-1002 and 613-734-1004.

If Canada Post won’t help:

Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (for fraud); Canada Post as the carrier for service complaints: Link and phone 1-888-495-8501 are given on Canada Post's own page.

Checked on Canada Post’s own pages on 30 October 2026. Support routes change, so if something has moved, use the help section in the official app or website and tell us. See every company in Travel and Delivery Scam Help, and report the crime to the police via the cyber agencies directory.
