Airbnb: Official Contacts and How to Report a Scam

Fake listings, fake payment links and fake support numbers target Airbnb customers. Here is what Airbnb officially publishes for 2 markets: contacts, the domains it uses, its scam warnings and how to report a problem.

Do this first

  1. Keep all payment and messages inside the official Airbnb website or app. Be wary of anyone asking you to pay or chat elsewhere.
  2. Do not call a number from a search ad or a message. Use the numbers and pages below.
  3. If you paid by card, bank transfer or gift card, call your bank's fraud line now.
  4. Report the listing or message with the routes below, then use the regulator if the company won't help.

  • Airbnb support line (published on the how-to-check-authenticity article):1-844-234-2500

A link or email address on any other domain is not from Airbnb.

What Airbnb says about scams: Airbnb says fake emails, texts, calls and websites imitate it; real emails come only from the listed airbnb domains and real links begin airbnb.com or a country URL. It says it will never call to ask you to change your payout method or share one-time codes, passwords, or payment or payout details, and that caller ID can be spoofed. Separate policy: Airbnb prohibits communicating, booking and paying outside the platform; paying outside voids AirCover protection, and a wire or bank transfer 'may be a fraudulent reservation'.

Report a scam or fraud: Fake website: submit the URL at airbnb.com/report-phishing (form creates no support case). Suspicious message: Messages > three dots > 'Report this message' (airbnb.com/help/article/3017). Paid a host off-platform or suspect a fraudulent reservation: airbnb.com/offsite-payment. Suspicious call: hang up, then call Airbnb and report the number, time and what was said.

AirCover for guests: Every home booking made through Airbnb is covered: if the host cancels before check-in, you cannot reach the host, or the listing is significantly different from advertised and the host cannot resolve it, Airbnb helps rebook a similar place or gives a full or partial refund including service fees. Paying outside Airbnb forfeits this protection. (source)

  • Hosts asking you to take the booking off Airbnb or to chat on WhatsApp, text or any other platform before booking is against Airbnb policy: report it.
  • Airbnb will never call to ask you to change a payout method or share one-time codes or passwords.
  • Airbnb blocks messages containing contact details or external links; a message urging you to click an outside payment link is a red flag.
