NCA Intelligence Officer salary and locations
The advertised starting salary is £43,877 at Spot Rate 2 (SR2). London-based roles attract an additional £4,379 London weighting. Progression to higher spot rates is available only once in post.
The attached qualifications guidance sets out additional NCA-specific requirements before SR2 is awarded to certified officers, with pay then backdated to their start date. Applicants should check how these provisions apply to their circumstances.
Posts are based in Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, London and Warrington. Permanent, fixed-term, loan and secondment arrangements are listed. The stated two-year employment length does not apply to permanent appointments.
Full-time, part-time, job-share and flexible working are advertised, subject to operational requirements. Some teams require participation in an on-call rota. The listing does not specify a hybrid attendance pattern.
What the Economic Crime Team does
Officers will collect, evaluate, develop and analyse intelligence to support the NCA’s response to serious and organised crime. Duties include producing intelligence reports, delivering briefings, coordinating intelligence assets and managing risk.
Most successful applicants will join the National Intelligence Hub’s Economic Crime Team, although other placements may be available. The team guide describes work against money laundering, a data-sharing partnership with eight UK banks and efforts to disrupt criminal exploitation of high-street businesses.
Eligibility, experience and security clearance
The campaign is open to UK nationals only. Applicants with dual nationality that includes British nationality may be considered case by case.
Candidates need Intelligence Professionalisation Programme (IPP) Intelligence Officer certification or evidence of equivalent experience. The supporting guidance specifies current or active certification and a minimum certification level of IPP Intelligence Officer.
Applicants must demonstrate intelligence collection, analysis and evaluation experience, sound judgement and knowledge of relevant legislation.
SC Enhanced security clearance is required before starting. Most posts also require DV or DV STRAP clearance within the first 12 months, depending on allocation. Applicants must be willing to undergo the required vetting and STRAP induction.
