NeGD invites AI Engineers and a Senior Data Scientist under Digital India, last date 15 October
Digital India has flagged National e-Governance Division openings for AI Engineer and Senior Data Scientist, with applications closing on 15 October 2026. The hiring graphic lists two AI Engineer posts (5–9 years) and one Senior Data Scientist post (6–10 years). Apply at ora.digitalindiacorporation.in; full terms are on negd.gov.in and dic.gov.in.
On 3 October 2026, the official Digital India account posted an opportunity alert from the National e-Governance Division.
NeGD is inviting applications for AI Engineer and Senior Data Scientist roles.
The last date given in the post is 15 October 2026.
Applications go through the Digital India Corporation portal at https://ora.digitalindiacorporation.in, with further details on https://negd.gov.in and https://dic.gov.in.
The hiring graphic attached to the post lists:
- two AI Engineer vacancies for candidates with 5 to 9 years of experience,
- one Senior Data Scientist vacancy for candidates with 6 to 10 years of experience.
The post does not publish pay, age limits, or the full qualification table. Those sit in the detailed notice. Anyone applying should read that notice before submitting, rather than treating the social post as the complete advertisement.
What Digital India is
Digital India is the Government of India's programme, under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, for putting public services, identity, documents, and payments on shared digital rails, and for widening who can use them.
It is not a single app. It is the umbrella under which platforms such as DigiLocker, UMANG, and myScheme have been built out, and under which ministries and states are pushed to deliver services online instead of only across a counter.
The institution hiring for these posts sits inside that structure. The National e-Governance Division was created in 2009 by MeitY as an independent business division of the Digital India Corporation, earlier known as Media Lab Asia, a Section 8 not-for-profit company.
NeGD's own description of its role is programme management and technical support for e-governance projects, for ministries and departments at the Centre and in the states. Its offices are at Electronics Niketan in New Delhi and at its Noida branch.
Working on government AI and data, in this case, means contract work inside that delivery machinery, not a generic private-sector model shop.
NeGD's current project list includes machine-readable law (Nyaykosh), textile statistics, support to the UPSC's digital transformation, scheme discovery, and data platforms for other ministries. An AI engineer or senior data scientist hired here is being asked to sit next to those public systems.
The two roles
The AI Engineer opening is the larger of the two: two posts, and a stated experience band of 5 to 9 years.
The Senior Data Scientist opening is a single post, with 6 to 10 years.
The post frames both as part of one call, with the same last date.
NeGD's careers page, checked the same day as the alert, lists Senior Data Scientist and AI Engineer among openings marked 15 October 2026, alongside other AI titles such as AI Safety Researcher, MLOps Engineer, MLOps Lead, and Principal Architect – AI.
This article does not treat those extra titles as part of the tweet. They are a reason to open https://negd.gov.in/careers/ and the DIC jobs pages, because a graphic can lag the full list.
How selection is described
NeGD's careers page describes a short path:
- resume screening by HR,
- review by team leads,
- a panel interview with project heads by video conference,
- then finalisation by the selection committee and HR.
It does not say that this exact sequence is written into the 15 October notice. Treat it as the division's published process, and confirm it in the advertisement you apply against.
Where to apply
Apply online at https://ora.digitalindiacorporation.in.
The alert also points readers to https://negd.gov.in and https://dic.gov.in for the full details.
The source post is https://x.com/_digitalindia/status/2106270525295313388, published at 12:00 p.m. on 3 October 2026 by @_DigitalIndia.
The window is short. 15 October 2026 is the last date printed on the alert.
Eligibility, contract length, place of posting, and pay are not in the tweet, so they should be taken from the notice on the NeGD and Digital India Corporation sites.
