India arrests alleged international call-centre kingpin Mohsin Khan

Kolkata: Kolkata Police’s Cyber Crime Branch has arrested three people, including the alleged kingpin of an international call-centre fraud network, after a raid in the Pragati Maidan police station area of the city’s East Division.

According to an official statement from the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Cyber Crime), Kolkata Police, the arrested persons are:

• Mohsin Khan alias Faisal (31), alleged kingpin and principal payment handler of the network
• Md. Khurshid alias Guddu (35)
• Imran Ali (27)

Seizures and custody

During the raid, police seized four mobile phones, four SIM cards and ₹96,000 in cash.

Local reporting on the operation said a court remanded the three accused to police custody until 1 October 2026.

How the network allegedly worked

Police said the arrests came in connection with an investigation into an international call-centre network.

Primary inquiry cited in local coverage indicates the group allegedly used fake call-centre setups to target people overseas and commit financial fraud, a pattern familiar to investigators who track India-based VoIP and payment-mule rings that victimize foreign nationals while operators remain onshore.

Mohsin Khan alias Faisal is described by police as the alleged mastermind and the principal person handling payments for the network, typically a critical node when investigators follow cash, UPI, bank accounts or mule chains linked to scam proceeds.

Why this matters internationally

Transnational tech-support, tax and finance impersonation scams often depend on a small leadership layer that moves money and SIMs while agents work from short-lived flats or offices.

Arresting an alleged payment handler interrupts that money path as much as shutting a calling floor.
