Vipps Fraud: How to Report It and Stop the Money
If you sent money to a scammer through Vipps, or money left your Vipps account without your permission, contact Vipps straight away and ask them to block the receiving account. Wallet money moves fast, so the first minutes matter most.
Do this first
- Call Vipps’s official line below, or use help inside the official Vipps app. Never use a number from a text, a caller or a search result.
- Give them the transaction ID, the amount, the time and the number or account you paid, and ask them to block it.
- Change your PIN and password if anyone may know them. Vipps will never ask for your PIN or a one-time code.
- Report it to the police too: see who handles cybercrime in Norway, and keep screenshots of every message and payment.

Know this about Norway
- In Norway your own share of a fraud loss is capped at NOK 450 under Norwegian law, not the EUR 50 used in EU countries.
- SpareBank 1 is a group of separate regional banks, each with its own number. Call the one for your bank, shown in your app or on your card.
- We could not verify a phone number for DNB. Use the number on the back of your card or in the DNB app.
If Vipps won’t help
Finansklagenemnda (Norwegian Financial Services Complaints Board)
Out-of-court complaints from consumers about banks and other financial services, if your bank rejects your claim.
Complain to your bank first and wait until it has finished handling your case. Submit through the online form or by post (not by email); the case must not be in court, and the bank must be a member.
