What TextNow says about legal process
- Legal process. TextNow discloses user data on a valid legal order (subpoena, search warrant, production order etc.) from a court, person or body with jurisdiction in Canada or the United States; orders must be addressed to TextNow, Inc., identify a TextNow number, username or email, list the data and dates/time zone, be signed and dated with a due date and an official agency email for the officer. Records are delivered electronically (for example CSV); message content only if stated in the authorized order; no fax orders.
- Requests from other countries. International legal requests must be processed via MLAT; US law enforcement agencies are exempt from the MLAT process.
- Preservation. TextNow voluntarily preserves records for 90 days pending a valid order, on a preservation request (Local & State or Federal form) submitted through the Law Enforcement Portal; extensions must be requested and the agency must track the 90-day deadline.
