What Match Group (Tinder, Hinge, OkCupid and other brands) says about legal process

  • Legal process. For US-based brands (Tinder, Hinge, OkCupid): a validly issued subpoena or search warrant; a search warrant is required for message content, a subpoena suffices otherwise. Legal requests are processed within 14 days, quick questions within 7 days.
  • Requests from other countries. For internationally based brands, non-content data on a search warrant, court order or other document sufficient under the requester's own law; message content only via a warrant or order under the MLAT (28 U.S.C. 1781 et seq.) through the requester's Central Authority. A non-US agency seeking content from a US-based brand also needs MLAT. Country-specific handling is published for Japan and Brazil.
  • Preservation. Preservation requests must be submitted through the portal as a formal preservation request; records are preserved for 90 days and the period can be extended with an additional request.
