How Police Request Data from GoDaddy

Police and government officials send lawful requests to GoDaddy through a legal-process email address. The details below are taken from GoDaddy's own published guidelines.

Ministry of Cyber Affairs is not GoDaddy and cannot create or reset portal accounts, pass on requests or release data. Contact GoDaddy directly. Is this your company? Request a correction.

Check before you send

  • This email is for registrant-data (NPRD) requests only. Subpoenas go to GoDaddy's Tempe, Arizona address or by fax. GoDaddy's own pages also print [email protected] (singular) once, and its guidelines were last revised on 1 April 2024.

What GoDaddy says about legal process

  • Legal process. A valid subpoena must be faxed, mailed or served on GoDaddy.com, LLC to obtain customer identity or account information; for criminal matters the requester must be a member of the law enforcement community. GoDaddy will not produce email content (ECPA). Separately, verified law enforcement/government authorities may ask for non-public registrant data (name, address, phone, email of the registrant) of a specific current domain by emailing [email protected], with a response within 30 days; this is not a substitute for a subpoena or court order.
  • Requests from other countries. No separate foreign-authority procedure is stated; the subpoena policy is framed around subpoenas served on the Tempe, Arizona office. The registrant-data (NPRD) route is open to any verifiable law enforcement or government authority.
  • Notifying the user. For civil subpoenas GoDaddy promptly notifies the customer and gives them time to move to quash; no notice policy is stated for criminal subpoenas on the page.
