OLX: How to Report a Scam or Fraud

Scammed by a seller, charged for an order you didn’t place, or contacted by someone claiming to be OLX? Here are the official ways to report it in 10 countries, read on OLX’s own help pages, plus the buyer-protection deadline and where to escalate.

Do this first

  1. Stop all contact and payments. OLX will never ask you to pay outside its own checkout, share a one-time code or install a remote-access app.
  2. Report it inside the official OLX app or website (steps below), not through a link or number you were sent.
  3. Only call the numbers below. Numbers found on Google, social media or in a message are often fake.
  4. If you paid by card, bank transfer or a payment app, call your bank’s fraud line now: see Bank Fraud Help.
  5. Watch the buyer-protection deadline below: claims made late are usually refused.

Know this about OLX

  • Never pay an advance, deposit or token amount before you have seen the item, and never open a payment or delivery link sent by a buyer or seller.
  • Keep the conversation in the OLX chat: scammers ask to move to WhatsApp, Viber or SMS.
  • Where OLX offers buyer protection, it covers only orders paid and delivered through OLX itself.

Report a problem or scam: Report it to your local cyber cell or police. Then email [email protected] with the Ad ID, payment proof and chat history, or call the OLX anti-fraud helpline.

Report a seller or listing: On the ad, open the seller's profile › three dots › Report User and choose Fraud, or use 'Report this ad' below the description. Follow up by email to [email protected].

Fake OLX messages or sites: OLX will never ask for your OTP, UPI PIN, bank or card details, or your OLX login. Never scan a QR code to receive money.

  • OLX does not hold payments or guarantee deals between users. Don't pay an advance or token amount before you have checked the product.

  • OLX Grievance Officer (Sonal Sharma): [email protected], 99991 40999. For complaints OLX customer support has not resolved: quote the ticket number support gave you (Mon to Sun, 10 am to 7 pm). (source)
  • National Consumer Helpline (NCH) (1915): Register a complaint against an online seller or shopping site; the helpline tries to settle it with the company before court. Toll-free 1915 from 8am to 8pm, or WhatsApp +91 8800001915.
  • National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal: Report online fraud, such as a fake shopping site or a payment scam, to the police.

Report a problem or scam: Report the user in the chat (three dots › Denunciar) and contact OLX through the Fale Conosco chat in the help centre. For an order paid through OLX, open mediation within 48 hours of receiving it.

Report a seller or listing: In the chat, tap the three dots › Denunciar.

Garantia da OLX: For purchases paid through OLX, covers items that don't match the listing or chat, arrive in a different colour or version, or don't arrive because of a transport problem. It is not insurance and does not cover a change of mind; don't confirm receipt until you have checked the item. Claim within 48 hours of receiving the item, before payment is released.

Fake OLX messages or sites: OLX never messages you through your listing chat, never makes video calls and never charges a fee to release a payment. Sale notices come only from its verified WhatsApp account; check suspicious messages at https://validador.olx.com.br/.

  • OLX never asks for payment details by email or WhatsApp.
  • Keep the negotiation on OLX and be wary if someone asks to move to WhatsApp.

If OLX won’t help:

  • Consumidor.gov.br (SENACON): Free government platform that sends your complaint straight to the company. You need a gov.br account at silver or gold level, and the company must be on the platform. It has 10 days to reply.

OLX in Poland

Report a problem or scam: Ad: open the ad › Zgłoś › choose 'Oszustwo / podejrzenie oszustwa'. User: open the conversation › three dots › Zgłoś użytkownika (app) or the flag icon (web). If you lost money, data or goods, use the 'Napisz do nas' contact form in the help centre.

Report a seller or listing: Report the ad or the user as above and choose the fraud option.

Pakiet Ochronny (Protection Package): Covers orders sent with Przesyłki OLX: if the item does not match the listing or the parcel is empty, OLX reviews a claim for the item price, shipping and the Protection Package fee. Claim within 48 hours of receiving the item ('Mam problem').

Fake OLX messages or sites: OLX does not create links for receiving payment through Przesyłki OLX. Paste any suspicious link into the link checker in the OLX help centre.

  • Ignore any 'collect your payment' link, especially one sent outside OLX.
  • The Protection Package covers only orders sent with Przesyłki OLX.

Report a problem or scam: Tell OLX through the 'Escreva-nos' contact form on its help articles and file a complaint with the Polícia Judiciária. Keep the messages, payment proof and ad ID.

Report a seller or listing: Report the ad or user in the app or through the contact form.

Fake OLX messages or sites: Real OLX and CTT emails come from [email protected], [email protected] or [email protected], and OLX links start with olx.pt/. Addresses such as olx.pt.entregas.info and w-olx.com are fake.

  • An Entregas OLX delivery is always started by the seller, never the buyer, so don't use a delivery link sent by a buyer.
  • OLX and CTT never ask for your card number, CVV or expiry date when you sell, and never ask for advance payments.

Report a problem or scam: On the ad page, press 'Raportează' (next to the seller's contact details), choose the reason and add details.

Report a seller or listing: Use 'Raportează' on the ad.

Protecția Cumpărătorului: Covers orders made with Livrare prin OLX or OLX payments: if the item is damaged, not as described or the parcel is empty, OLX reviews a claim for the item price, delivery fee and protection fee. Claim within 48 hours of receiving the item ('Raportează o problemă').

Fake OLX messages or sites: OLX warns about fake links for 'paid items': these are phishing.

  • Only purchases made with OLX delivery and payment are covered by buyer protection.

OLX publishes no customer-care phone number here. Any number claiming to be OLX support (on Google, social media or a call you received) is a scam. Use the official app or help page below.

Report a problem or scam: If you got a fake 'secure OLX delivery' link, send OLX the link, the sender's phone number and screenshots of the chat through its contact form. If you entered card details, call your bank immediately and report it to the police.

Fake OLX messages or sites: The only official OLX site is www.olx.bg; look-alike sites are fakes.

Forward phishing to: https://sigurnost.olx.bg/

  • OLX.bg has no online payment system and does not protect payments between users. Any link asking for your card details to 'receive money' is fraud.
  • Stay in the OLX chat: don't move to Viber, WhatsApp, SMS or email.

OLX publishes no customer-care phone number here. Any number claiming to be OLX support (on Google, social media or a call you received) is a scam. Use the official app or help page below.

Report a problem or scam: Press 'Поскаржитися' (Report) at the bottom of the ad, choose 'Шахрайство' (fraud), then say whether you became a victim or suspect fraud. OLX may not reply to each report individually.

Report a seller or listing: Use the report button on the ad, as above.

Fake OLX messages or sites: A request by SMS or Viber for a code, or for following a link to receive payment, is phishing.

  • OLX Ukraine publishes no phone number or email: support is through the chat in its help-centre articles.

Report a problem or scam: Send a complaint through the feedback form: in the app, Profile › Help › scroll down › 'Напишите нам'. Replies come by email, 9:00 to 19:00 Astana time.

Report a seller or listing: Complain through the feedback form with payment proof, chat screenshots, the user's name or phone number and the ad link.

  • Watch for prepayment scams: a very low price, a seller who avoids calls or meeting, and a request for a deposit. Don't pay in advance.

OLX in Uzbekistan

Report a problem or scam: Report it to the police with screenshots of the chat and proof of payment; OLX shares what it holds when officially asked. Contact OLX through the Telegram bot @OLXYordamBot or the help-centre form, from the phone number verified on your profile (Mon to Fri, 9:30 to 18:00).

Fake OLX messages or sites: Official OLX sites are olx.uz and m.olx.uz. OLX gives support on Telegram only through @OLXYordamBot, and never on Viber or WhatsApp.

  • OLX.uz does not deliver goods: anyone offering delivery 'through OLX' is likely a scammer.
  • Never prepay by card-to-card or international transfer, and don't follow unknown links or move to other messengers.

Report a problem or scam: Report the user or ad in the app or on the website. File a complaint with the authorities and ask them to contact OLX, which can then release IP addresses and login details.

Report a seller or listing: Open the seller's profile › flag icon or three dots › Report User, then choose a reason and describe what happened.
