Kleinanzeigen: How to Report a Scam or Fraud
Scammed by a seller, charged for an order you didn’t place, or contacted by someone claiming to be Kleinanzeigen? Here are the official ways to report it in Germany, read on Kleinanzeigen’s own help pages, plus the buyer-protection deadline and where to escalate.
Do this first
- Stop all contact and payments. Kleinanzeigen will never ask you to pay outside its own checkout, share a one-time code or install a remote-access app.
- Report it inside the official Kleinanzeigen app or website (steps below), not through a link or number you were sent.
- Kleinanzeigen has no public customer-care phone number. Any number claiming to be Kleinanzeigen support is a scam.
- If you paid by card, bank transfer or a payment app, call your bank’s fraud line now: see Bank Fraud Help.
- Watch the buyer-protection deadline below: claims made late are usually refused.
Know this about Kleinanzeigen
- Kleinanzeigen has no phone support: any phone number claiming to be Kleinanzeigen is fake.
- Genuine Kleinanzeigen messages never contain threats or deadlines, and payment always happens inside the platform.

kleinanzeigen.deKleinanzeigen publishes no customer-care phone number here. Any number claiming to be Kleinanzeigen support (on Google, social media or a call you received) is a scam. Use the official app or help page below.
Report a problem or scam: If you paid and got nothing, give the seller a final deadline, send a damage report (Schadensmeldung) to Kleinanzeigen customer service, open a PayPal dispute if you paid by PayPal, and file a police report (Strafanzeige) with the ad number, bank details and messages.
Report a seller or listing: Report the ad or user in the app or website, and use the Schadensmeldung (damage report) for fraud losses.
Sicher bezahlen: Your payment is held by the payment provider until you confirm you received the item. If something is wrong, report it in the Kleinanzeigen message box. Only purchases made with Sicher bezahlen are covered. Claim within 14 days.
Fake Kleinanzeigen messages or sites: Real Kleinanzeigen emails come from addresses ending @kleinanzeigen.de, and you never pay through an email or SMS link.
- Never click links in 'account suspended' or 'payment confirmed' messages sent by email, SMS, WhatsApp or QR code.
If Kleinanzeigen won’t help:
- Verbraucherzentrale: An independent, state-funded consumer advice centre (not a government agency): report a problem with an online shop or get advice.
- Universalschlichtungsstelle des Bundes (federal consumer arbitration): Out-of-court settlement of a dispute with a genuine trader. Try to settle with the business yourself first. Cases can take a while.
- EVZ Deutschland (European Consumer Centre): Free help with a dispute against a genuine trader in another EU country, Iceland or Norway. It is for real traders, not scam websites.
- Consumer Redress in the EU (dispute resolution bodies): Find an official body that can settle a dispute with a genuine trader in an EU country, Norway or Iceland.
- European Consumer Centres Network (ECC-Net): Free help with a dispute against a genuine trader in another EU country, Iceland or Norway. Contact the centre in the country where you live. It is for real traders, not scam websites.
