Etsy: How to Report a Scam or Fraud
Scammed by a seller, charged for an order you didn’t place, or contacted by someone claiming to be Etsy? Here are the official ways to report it in Worldwide, read on Etsy’s own help pages, plus the buyer-protection deadline and where to escalate.
Do this first
- Stop all contact and payments. Etsy will never ask you to pay outside its own checkout, share a one-time code or install a remote-access app.
- Report it inside the official Etsy app or website (steps below), not through a link or number you were sent.
- Etsy has no public customer-care phone number. Any number claiming to be Etsy support is a scam.
- If you paid by card, bank transfer or a payment app, call your bank’s fraud line now: see Bank Fraud Help.
- Watch the buyer-protection deadline below: claims made late are usually refused.

Report a problem or scam: Problem order: Your account › Purchases and reviews › Help with order to message the seller, then open a case after 48 hours. If you sent money to a scammer, also contact your bank and local police.
Report a seller or listing: Signed in on Etsy.com or the app, use the report option on the item or shop page. Reports are confidential.
Etsy Purchase Protection: Covers qualifying orders that never arrive, arrive damaged or don't match the listing, when you paid through Etsy Payments. It doesn't cover payments made off Etsy, and you can't combine a case with a card chargeback. Claim Open a case after the latest estimated delivery date and 48 hours after messaging the seller, no later than 30 days after the estimated delivery date..
Fake Etsy messages or sites: Real Etsy messages appear only in the 'From Etsy' folder with an 'Etsy staff' badge. Send fake emails, texts or phone numbers to [email protected]. If you shared account details, change your password and turn on two-factor authentication.

- Etsy Support doesn't make unrequested phone calls. Hang up on unexpected calls claiming to be Etsy.
