Google Pay Fraud: How to Report It and Stop the Money

If you sent money to a scammer through Google Pay, or money left your Google Pay account without your permission, contact Google Pay straight away and ask them to block the receiving account. Wallet money moves fast, so the first minutes matter most.

Do this first

  1. Call Google Pay’s official line below, or use help inside the official Google Pay app. Never use a number from a text, a caller or a search result.
  2. Give them the transaction ID, the amount, the time and the number or account you paid, and ask them to block it.
  3. Change your PIN and password if anyone may know them. Google Pay will never ask for your PIN or a one-time code.
  4. Report it to the police too: see who handles cybercrime in India, and keep screenshots of every message and payment.

Know this about India

  • Report to your bank and to 1930 straight away: the sooner the bank knows, the better the chance it can put the money on hold before it is moved on.
  • Union Bank of India shows conflicting helpline numbers on its own website, so we do not list one: use the number on the back of your card, or call 1930.
  • Canara Bank's fraud team calls customers from 1600 108 090; you cannot call that number back. HDFC Bank says it never calls customers from 1800 1600 or 1800 2600.

If Google Pay won’t help

National Cyber Crime Helpline 1930 and cybercrime.gov.in

Call 1930 or report at cybercrime.gov.in as soon as you notice money has gone: your complaint is passed to your bank and to the bank that received the money, so the money can be put on hold if it is still there.

You get an acknowledgement number by SMS; then file the full complaint at cybercrime.gov.in.
